bez direktnog upliva konativne sposobnosti.
The aim of the dissertation is to answer the question: Is Kierkegaard a volitionalist? Contrary to
Pojman's understanding, which is based on the thesis that Kierkegaard advocated direct
descriptive and prescriptive volitionalism, we plan to show that this interpretation is unfounded.
By analyzing the concepts of belief, doubt and faith, we will try to prove that Kierkegaard never
held the view that the belief formation/suspension is under direct control of the will nor that he
believed that the Christian faith can be a product of an arbitrary choice. At the same time, we
will argue that Kierkegaard maintained that will has a certain function in the domain of cognitive
activity and in the act of faith, that can eventually be explained from the viewpoint of indirect
descriptive volitionalism which does not require the introduction of a normative thesis. Since
Pojman believes that indirect descriptive volitionalism is unproblematic, and that problems arise
only at the level of the ethics ...of belief, this cannot justify Pojman's criticism.
First, we will defend the thesis that factual beliefs are the product of faith as an organ for
understanding the historical, and that their formation is carried out automatically, without the
direct influence of conative ability. When it comes to the formation of existential beliefs, we will
argue that the role of the will is not realized on a cognitive, but a practical level. At the level of
research into Kierkegaard's understanding of the relationship between will and faith, we will
argue that faith cannot be reduced to an irrational choice of an absurd belief that God came into
being. The goal is to show that faith is a complex phenomenon, which is realized at the same
time as a miracle and an individual's choice to exist as a Christian.
