The aim of this research was to determine effects of Specialized physical education
classes and effects of functional training method programme application on body
composition and muscle strength of students, during 12 weeks. The research was
carried out on sample of 105 students of the Academy of Criminalistic and Police
Studies (ACPS), on both gender, aged from 19 to 21 years (51 male and 54 female),
divided by gender, into experimental group (28 male, BH=182.87±7.14cm,
BW=82.10±7.85kg, BMI=24.53±1.61kg/m² and 22 female, 169.05±5.03cm,
64.91±10.36kg, 22.63±2.87kg/m², respectively) and into control group (23 male,
BH=181.14±5.97cm, BW=79.80±7.99kg, BMI=24.53±1.61kg/m² and 32 female,
169.05±5.03cm, 64.91±10.36kg, 24.30±1.92kg/m², respectively). Experimental
group has applied functional methods of strength development, twice a week,
during 12 weeks, no longer than 20 minutes by classes. Students were tested at the
beginning and at the end of the experimental programme, by st...andardized
procedures for muscle strength and body composition assessment. Results of
MANCOVA showed, at general level, that there wern`t statistically significantly
changes in effects between experimental and control group, in case of application of
experimental programme on muscle strength of male (p=0.386) and female students
(p=0.593), during 12 weeks. Results of ANCOVA of male students, showed at the
individual level, statistically significant increase of repetitive muscle strength of
hand flexor (р<0.01), while the analysis of female students showed statistically
significant increase of absolute and relative values of maximal muscle strength for
back extensors (p<0.05). In body composition it wasn`t achieved a statistically
significantly increase of results, at both gender, neither on general level (male
p=0.685, female p=0.610), nor on individual level. It can be concluded that the
application of functional training method programme on male and female students
of ACPS, during 12 weeks, had no statistically significant effects on the change of
all variables of muscle strength, but there has been a change in the mean values of
observed variables, while the body composition isn`t statistically significantly
affected in any of parameters, with some minor changes of observed parameters.
