Neonatal heart remodeling occurs during delivery. With the hypothesis that this process does not occur in the same way in healthy pregnancies and those complicated with preeclampsia and gestational diabetes, in umbilical cord blood, using ELISA tests, troponin T and I, Glycogen Phosphorylase-BB, Hsp 27 and Hsp 70 concentrations were measured. The obtained concentrations were correlated with fetal and neonatal characteristics and pregnancy, labor and delivery characteristics. Hsp 70 is the most sensitive marker of fetal stress in pregnancies complicated with gestational diabetes, and cTnI and GP-BB in preeclamptic pregnancies. Hsp 70 and GP-BB concentrations increase with increased fetal heart rate during uterus contractions in labor. Fetal stres can be registered by high cTnI concentrations in maternal metabolic syndroms. Fetal stress as a consequence of maternal high blood pressure can be measured through high GP- BB and cTnI concentrations. Higher cTnI concentartions were found in ne...onates who had prolonged hospitalizations, while higher Hsp 27 concentrations were found in neonates who were hospitalized in neonatal intensive care unit. Hsp 27, Hsp 70, GP- BB, cTnT, cTnI are sensitive markers of the stress of fetal myocardium in pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes and preeclampsia.
