Abstract
Utilization of waste as a source of raw materials, contribute to pollution reduction and saving the natural and energy resources. Therefore, today the great efforts are invested in seeking opportunities to use the larger quantities of waste materials for the production of new product. Rubber, whose production requires the large number of natural resources, is result of vulcanization processes, the reaction between the rubber, sulfur and other ingredients. Rubber products are numerous and used in almost all industries and households. At the end of life cycle, there is a problem of their disposal, and one way of solving that problem is rubber recycling. So far, various methods of rubber recycling have been developed: production of recycled rubber powder, devulcanization, regeneration, and production chemicals from rubber. A large number of research in the field of application of recycled rubber powder on various types of rubber blends was carried out. A common conclusion of t...hese researches was that up to 7% of recycled rubber powder can be used into the rubber blends for the manufacturing of tires, without significant change in performance. Therefore, in this doctoral thesis research is conducted to examine the possibility of increasing the share of recycled rubber powder in the rubber blends, without causing a significant change in certain groups of static and dynamic rubber properties. For this purpose, mechanical-chemical modification of the recycled rubber powder which is applied as a filler in the NR / SBR mixtures is made. The analysis of impact of the unmodified and modified recycled rubber powder in rubber blends properties is done. Testing of static and dynamic properties of certain types of rubber blends, a comparative study of the properties of the rubber composition without and with the same proportion and unmodified and modified recycled rubber powderis performed and their changes is followed. As a result of the research, the optimal proportion of the unmodified and modified recycled rubber powder into the rubber blends, at which there is no substantial change in the properties of rubber, is determined. Based on these results, guidance for the application of an unmodified and a modified recycled rubber powder in certain types of commercial mixture is provided.
