Uzorak ispitanika predstavljaju mečevi u muškoj i ženskoj konkurenciji na olimpijskim igrama održanim 2004. godine u Atini, zatim 2008. godine u Pekingu i 2012. godine u Londonu. Kruskall-Walisovim H-testom.
One of the youngest sports, volleyball has undergone numerous changes in the course of its existence. As an attractive sport it has become a subject of considerable attention. In time the rules of the game have been improved as has been competition itself. The history of the Olympic volleyball traces back to the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964. Since then, up to the present times, volleyball has been a subject of scientific research that most often goes in two directions: research into antropometric and research into motoric variables. In recent times there has been an increasing number of research works whose subject are technical and tactical activities of top volleyball players. The research presented here is designed as an ex post facto prospective explorative study with parallel groups, with both transverse and longitudinal aspects. The sample comprises the men’s and the women’s volleyball matches at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The data retrieved from international competition official statistics were used as variables. Each of the matches at the above mentioned games was analysed through 75 basic and derived variables that were subjected to a descriptive statistical analysis. Defined were the measures of the central trend and dissipation of results, as well as the indicators of matching the data distribution with normal distribution. The importance of quantitative differences between subsamples created according to different criteria (gender, gender and final ranking, outcome and after the olympic games are finished) was tested using the Mann-Whitey U-test and the non-parametric variance analysis, i.e., the Kruskall-Walis H-test. The functional relations between the variables and the classification procedures were devised using the multivariate analysis method (factor and discriminant analysis). The applied methodology was implemented to test the validity of 11 research hypotheses. On the basis of the findings of the statistical analysis, and considering the proposed hypotheses, numerous conclusions were drawn. The results obtained defined a 6-dimensional structure of latent dimensions. Given that the number of extracted factors as well as their structures was identical in men’s and women’s games, their games can be observed in a uniquely structured space where quantitative, rather than qualitative, differences will be manifested. The research used the final ranking at the olympic games, classed into three categories (medal winners, other finalists and other participants in the final olympic tournament) as a measure of quality. Comparisson between thus formed groups resulted into 26 statistically significant differences in 52 observed indicators of technical and tactical activity in men and 35 indicators in women. With the above grouping of the basic sample according to the above criteria, the discriminant analysis extracted certain clusters of variables with a dramatically high level of statistical significance. Models based on the discriminant function a posteriori provided a correct classification of a large percentage of analysed men’s and women’s teams, upon the grouping according to the defined criteria. On the basis of the results of the statistical analysis of technical and tactical activities the research defined the trends in the development of certain phenomena. They were determined using the first and second order polynomials. A general trend was determined on the basis of the value of the linear coefficient of the first order polynomial, approximated by the least square method on the data analysed, whereas the nature of the trend was defined on the basis of the value of the square member of the second order polynomial interpolated through the analysed data. This approach allowed for the trend of each of the technical and tactical activity indicators to be successfully determined in the three observed olympic cycles. The importance of this study is in obtaining the results of the analysis of competitive activities of the world’s top volleyball teams at the three latest final olympic tournaments. Simultaneously, a specific dimension of the research is achieved by defining the fundamental factors that condition the variability in the indicators observed, whereby the space in which a top volleyball team’s technical and tactical activity can be observed is defined. The success in the extraction of the technical and tactical activity indicators showing the differences between analysed grouped matches according to the criteria of gender, team quality and match score allows for a more rational approach to the processes of initial and stage selection of volleyball players as well as the training procedure planning and programming processes.en
