dc.description.abstractRazličite biljne vrste se sve više koriste kao pasivni ili aktivni biomonitori elemenata u tragovima u istraživanjima atmosferske depozicije zagađujućih materija. Prednosti biomonitoringa, u odnosu na referentni monitoring, su dobijanje informacija o uticaju zagađujućih materija iz vazduha na žive organizme i niži troškovi sprovođenja istraživanja. Praćenje koncentracija i izvora elemenata u tragovima je jedan od glavnih preduslova za formiranje adekvatnih zakonskih propisa kojima bi se regulisao prekomerni unos ovih supstanci u životnu sredinu. U ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji su prikazani rezultati biomonitoringa elemenata u tragovima u vazduhu korišćenjem listova različitih biljnih vrsta, u periodu od 2002. do 2014. godine, a posebna pažnja je posvećena sadržaju i izvorima olova, kao jednog od najzastupljenijih elemenata u tragovima u vazduhu u Beogradu tokom ispitivanog perioda. Korišćene su četiri vrste listopadnog drveća – Aesculus hippocastanum (divlji kesten), Tilia spp. (T. tomentosa i T. cordata) (lipa), Betula pendula (breza) i Acer platanoides (norveški javor). Takođe je vršeno i indirektno upoređivanje koncentracija elemenata u tragovima u uzorcima listova i u uzorcima čestica iz vazduha, da bi se utvrdila pogodnost korišćenja listova drveća kao komplementarne metode standardnom praćenju elemenata u tragovima iz vazduha. U okviru istraživanja rađena je morfološka i hemijska karakterizacija čestica na površini listova, korišćenjem SEM-EDS instrumenta (skenirajuća elektronska mikroskopija sa energo-disperzivnom spektroskopijom - Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy). Primenjeni su različiti načini pripreme uzoraka listova pre hemijske analize, sa ciljem: a) standardizacije metode pripreme uzoraka, što bi omogućilo lakše upoređivanje rezultata iz različitih istraživanja, b) da bi se izvršila hemijska karakterizacija istaloženih frakcija na površini listova i u voštanom sloju, kao i sadržaj elemenata u tkivu listova. Uklonjena količina elemenata u tragovima sa površine listova predstavlja frakciju rastvorljivu u vodi i/ili hloroformu i potiče iz vazduha. Uočena je najveća akumulacija elemenata u tragovima u tkivu listova Tilia spp., dok su listovi A. hippocastanum sadržali najmanju količinu elemenata. dc.description.abstractDifferent plant species are frequently used as passive or active biomonitors of trace elements in atmospheric deposition studies. Advantages of biomonitoring, in comparison with instrumental monitoring techniques, are better understanding of the effects of air pollutants on living organisms and lower costs of experiments. Assessment of concentrations and sources of trace elements is one of the major prerequisite for adequate regulations for controling the emissions of these pollutants in the environment. The results of trace element biomonitoring in air, from year 2002 to year 2014, using leaves of different plants species are shown in this thesis, with the special emphasis on lead content and isotopes, as one of the most abundant element in Belgrade air during the studied period. Four deciduous tree species were used - Aesculus hippocastanum, Tilia spp. (T. tomentosa and T. cordata), Betula pendula and Acer platanoides. Also, concentrations of trace elements in leaf and particulate matter samples were indireclty compared, to determine the possibility of using leaves as a complementary method to instrumental monitoring. Morphological and chemical characterization of particles on the leaf surfaces was assessed using SEM-EDS technique. Different sample treatments prior to chemical analysis were applied in order to: a) provide standardized procedure of sample preparation, which would enable comparison of results from different studies, b) provide chemical characterization of leaf surface and in-wax fractions, as well as the leaf tissue element content. The removed amount of trace elements from the leaf surface represents the fraction dissolved in water and/or chloroform and originates from the air. Among the studied species, Tilia spp. was found to be the most effective in the accumulation of elements in leaf tissue, while A. hippocastanum had the lowest accumulation. After water and chloroform washing, the highest percentages of removal were observed for Al, V, Cr, Cu, Zn, As, Cd and Sb. The percentage of Pb removed by applied short rinsing with deionized water was significant, and the lowest percentage of removal of Pb was observed for B. pendula, indicating the highest retention for fine and coarse particulates due to thick epicuticular wax layer...en
