Afro-američke književnice iz ugla afro-američkog crnog feminizma: Zora Nil Herston, Elis Voker i Toni Morison

Abstract

U radu se tumače djela afro-američkih književnica: Zore Nil Herston, Elis Voker i Toni Morison iz perspektive teorije crnog feminizma. U prvom dijelu rada se najprije ispituje teorijski okvir crnog feminizma kao neohodan oslonac u osvjetljavanju kulturno-umjetničkih vrijednosti djela ovih književnica s namjerom da se postigne novi uvid u njihovo pismo koje je često bilo jednostrano tumačeno od strane mnogih bijelih kritičara. Najznačajnije teorije su predstavljene hronološki, kroz tri talasa crnog feminizma. U drugom poglavlju se razmatra kulturno-istorijski kontekst i analizira se roman Njihove oči su gledale Boga Zore Nil Herston. Oblikovanje nove crne heroine Herstonove za vrijeme pokreta Harlemska renesansa osvijetliće novi kulturološki model i književnu pojavu u okviru afro-američkog ženskog pisma. U sljedećem poglavlju se ispituje roman Voljena autorke Toni Morison kao neo-ropski narativ čime se pokazuje da je on ujedno i neophodan kritički diskurs za razmatranje komplikovane afro-američke istorije i institucije ropstva. U ovom poglavlju će se takođe analizirati još jedan roman ove autorke, Sula, s namjerom da se pokaže da politika rase, klase i seksualnosti utiče na formiranje crnog ženskog identiteta. U četvrtom poglavlju se tumači roman Boja purpura Elis Voker s ciljem da se pokaže kako glavna junakinja romana kroz epistolarnu formu pokušava da stekne svoj glas u represivnom, seksističkom društvu. Uz to, napraviće se komparacija između ovog romana i romana Njihove oči su gledale Boga da bi se vidjelo kako kroz dvije različite naratološke matrice glavne junakinje ostvaruju osjećaj sopstva. Na kraju, daje se opšti pogled na temu i sumiraju se efekti primjene crnog feminizma kao novijeg pristupa u savremenoj interpretaciji književne, intelektualne i kulturološke tradicije odabranih afro-američkih književnica i njihovih djela.

The thesis interprets the works of African American women writers: Zora Neale Hurston, Alice Walker and Toni Morrison from the perspective of the theory of black feminism. The first part examines the theoretical framework of black feminism as necessary platform in the illumination of cultural-artistic values of the works of these writers with the intention to obtain a new insight into their writing, which was often unilaterally interpreted by many white critics. The most important theories are presented chronologically, through the three waves of (black) feminism. The second chapter discusses the cultural-historical context and analyzes the novel Their eyes were watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. Creation of a new black heroine by Hurston during the Harlem Renaissance movement sheds light on new cultural model and the literary phenomenon in the context of African—American women's writing. The next chapter examines the novel Beloved by author Toni Morrison as a neo-slave narrative which shows that it is also a necessary critical discourse for considering the complicated African-American history and the institution of slavery. In this section another novel by this author, Sula, is analyzed with the intention to show that the policy of race, class and sexuality affect the formation of black female identity. In the fourth chapter the novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker is interpreted in order to show how the heroine of the novel, through the epistolary form, tries to gain her voice in a repressive, sexist society. In addition, the comparison is made between this novel and the novel Their eyes were watching God to show the two different narrative matrices by which the main characters achieve a sense of selfhood. Finally, a general view of the subject is given, as well as a summary of the effects of black feminism as a newer approach to the modern interpretation of literary, intellectual and cultural traditions of selected African-American women writers and their works.
