| sr |
dc.description.abstract | The aim of this work is to present the new design and optimization procedure for high speed asynchronous machines with very low rotor inertia. The work contains an overview of different rotor concepts for high speed asynchronous machines. From the found solutions, drag-cup rotor is distinguished as a concept with simple construction and very low inertia. After that, the impact of high supply frequency in high speed machines on materials selection and winding design procedure is investigated. Modified procedure for stator design is proposed which results with geometry which satisfies all input limitations and specific issues of high speed electrical machines. The main attention is paid to modeling and optimization of drag-cup rotor as very specific structure in order to find the optimal design which results with maximum degree of efficiency of machine in defined operation regime. For the purpose of analysis of motor characteristics and its potential for optimization the analytical model for drag-cup machine is adopted which doesn’t take into account only the skin effect in drag-cup. The main results of this analysis are the input boundaries for optimization procedure in 2D FEM software. The results of 2D FEM simulations are the optimized rotor geometry which was then verified with few 3D simulations. Comparison of the results verifies the validity of the 2D optimization procedure and gives the necessary correction factors. The work also deals with impact of drag-cup rotor material on machine performance and optimal geometry of the rotor. Special part of the work is dedicated to analysis of thermal and mechanical aspects of drag-cup rotor design with the main accent to the applicability of proposed rotor concept for high speed applications. The last part of the work describes the development of experimental setup which is used for verification of proposed design and optimization procedure. This part also contains the description of design procedure for asymmetrical six phase stator winding which emphasizes its advantages over the three phase winding. Prototype of six phase drag-cup motor is built by modification of conventional asynchronous motor. Main dimensions of drag-cup rotor for the prototype are determined with proposed optimization procedure. The motor is then tested in no-load and on-load conditions. Obtained motor characteristics are... | en |
