This paper is based upon the idea that music as an art and as well a part of human nature, reflects the character of individuals and societies. As such, any change introuduced in the terms of reference of that music supposes a transformation in the system of values of the human nature, the community and the country. The impact of social power on popular music in Serbia, its language and form are the starting point of this research. The idea to reducing the volume of the ideological elements as the common denominator of different music scenes, indicating a potential political role of popular music content. Ideological influence on the social cultural forms can be stimulated through the acceptation at the origin of some standards in areas such economic, political, legal, and artistic. In order to adapt artistic expression, elitist or just for entertainment, for the needs of modern consumers the purpose and form of the music must be changed. The need to make adjustment in music leads to the institutionalization of art and almost entirely depends of the apparatus which monopolizes its activity, and works by writers, composers, and critics became a product for their needs (Breht, 1979:59). So, the uniformity of the artistic and popular characters make themselves acceptable and any opposition to the unified style and ideological content results an utopian act. Popular and elite art forms of modern times are deprived of the original privileges of art as needs and truths self-sufficient (Adorno, 1968:104); they are the outcome of needs and the adoption of new customs by the modern society, which spirit is designed by technologicаl evolution. Content of art today is a mechanism of assitance to cultural industries which mass production centers and high culture are located at the same place: at the economic, political, and military center of the world system, the USA and the EU (Aнтонић, 2013:460). The power of the Western unified ideology does not meet what ir offered at the begin: power and independence of identity for the nation, culture, tradition, and art; its ix supranational character suppose the silent adaptation of the new global socio-cultural order (Елзесер, 2009:15)...en
