U drugom poglavlju, „Deviktimizacija ženskih arhetipova u postmodernističkim romanima Margaret Etvud”, predstavlja deset romana Margaret Etvud (Jestiva žena, Izranjanje, Proročica, Život pre muškarca, Telesna povreda, Sluškinjina priča, Mačje oko, Alijas Grejs, Kradljivica-nevesta i Slepi ubica) u kojima se istražuje karakterizacija glavnih ženskih likova pomoću deskriptivne metode kombinovane sa psihonaracijama, dijalozima i unutrašnjim monolozima. Junakinje prolaze kroz četiri faze transformacije ličnosti i održavaju ravnotežu izmedju sopstvenih životnih pravila i utvrđenog društvenog kodeksa.sr
The objective of the doctoral dissertation, The Characterization of the Female Protagonists in the Novels by Margaret Atwood, is to explain the different processes in artistic creating of the female protagonists in the fiction of the Canadian author. The theory of literary character has largely been neglected in literary criticism and this dissertation applies narratological and contextual analysis to elucidate the most important aspects of the autonomous literary heroines in the postmodern texts by Margaret Atwood. Diachronic analysis of her novels, with the historical-critical researches and literary-theoretical texts, has enabled a comprehensive understanding of the characterization of the female protagonists in the work by the Canadian novelist. The dissertation has three chapters. The first chapter, “The Introduction”, deals with the autobiographical aspects in the fiction by Margaret Atwood, and the analysis of her studies in literary theory and criticism. The second chapter, “De-victimization of the Female Archetypes in the Postmodern Novels by Margaret Atwood”, presents ten novels by Margaret Atwood (The Edible Woman, Surfacing, Lady Oracle, Life Before Man, Bodily Harm, The Handmaid’s Tale, Cat's Eye, Alias Grace, The Robber Bride and The Blind Assassin) where the characterization of the female protagonists is explored by descriptive methods combined with psycho - narratives, dialogues and internal monologues. Here we distinguish between direct and indirect characterization, static or dynamic, schematic or typical figures, and metaphorical characterization. The third chapter, “The Conclusion”, refers to the mythological, historical, sociological and psychological texts focusing on the postmodern narrative and female characters in the work by Margaret Atwood. The result of this dissertation is to clearly define the authentic models of her female protagonists experiencing four stages of 6 personality transformation, and balancing among their own life patterns and the determined social codex.en
