The subject matter of this doctoral dissertation is an organizational and technological
aspect of the production process in organizations that produce quality vegetable seedlings. The
research focuses on the propagation process itself, analyzed from technological, organizational, and
economic aspects. The general goal was to present a viable model of seedlings propagation in terms
of optimally balanced use of modern propagation technologies, from both organizational and
economical aspects, so that such model could be used in further development of this segment of
vegetable production, be applicable in other vegetable-growing regions and, consequently, contribute
to the overall development of vegetable production. In 2020 and 2021 technological and economic
matrices were used to monitor parameters of the propagation technology, as well as quantity and
components of direct costs of production of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, and lettuce. The
sample was based on 282 technological... and economic matrices on the same number of agricultural
farms. Descriptive statistics were performed, and multiple linear regression was applied to predict the
total coverage margin based on independent variables by production lines and at the farm level within
4 production models (three models in protected areas and one model in open field). The research is
partly focused on the production process itself, which is analyzed from the technological and
organizational aspects. Using the methods of chronometry and chronography, the process of
vegetable seedling production was recorded in detail, which was the basis for the use of network
planning methods, namely PERT methods and PDM methods, which highlighted flexibility in
mathematical modeling and modeling capabilities. High profitability in the production of seedlings
on large farms in newly formed facilities with modern equipment allows excess production for long
producers, small and medium farms, and producers in the open field, which allows the necessary
specialization of vegetable production and strong development of the entire vegetable sector, have
the ability to substitute import with domestic production.
