In recent years, calcium silicate formulations of root canal sealers have emerged on the market, being a scientific and clinical extension of MTA-based materials. The basic idea was to create a group of sealers by summarizing the good biological and physicochemical properties of MTA, which would combine well with the basic root canal filling with different obturation techniques, with adequate flow and setting time. Today, there are several such sealers which, although derived from the same basic formulation, have their own specifics and differ in: composition, radiopacifier, particle size and delivery system. These specificities can affect the biological and physicochemical properties of calcium silicate based sealers as well as their behavior within the root canal. The aim of this study was to examine the physicochemical properties and push-out bond strength of calcium silicate based sealers to root canal dentin. Three calcium silicate based sealers were included in the study: Endosequence BC (Brassler, USA), BioRoot RCS (Septodont, France) and MTA Fillapex (Angelus, Brazil). AH Plus, an epoxy resin-based sealer (De Trey, Germany) was used as a control material. The porosity of sealers was examined using micro-computerised tomography. After being stored in the simulated tissue fluid, the samples were scanned after 7 days and after 6 months and open, closed and total porosity as well as the pore dimensions were assessed. Adhesion of the sealers to root canal dentin was measured using push-out bond strength test in the disc and conventional methods (by thirds). The radiopacity of the sealers was examined by radiographing the samples together with a stepped aluminum standard wedge using a Trophy RVG digital sensor (Cedex) and was expressed by converting the radiographic density of the samples expressed as optical density or gray-white scale tone into equivalent thickness. Determination of the pH value of the leachets of the set sealers was achieved by measuring in six time intervals (24h, 72h, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days)...en
