Izvedene (indeksne) varijable su bile: BMI - indeks mase tela, PBF - procenat telesnih masti, PSMM - procenat mišića u telu, FFM - bezmasna telesna komponenta, FFMI - bezmasni indeks, PFI - proteinsko masni indeks, MMI - indeks mase mišića, BFI - indeks telesnih masti, i IH - indeks hipokinezije.
The paper presents the results of research whose main goals were the analysis of the current situation, as well as relations between body composition, eating habits and physical activities of Serbian police officers, related to their professional duties. 689 healthy male participants took part in this research, 412 belonged to the control group, while 277 male members of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia were divided into 4 subgroups: Uniformed Police Directorate (N = 38), Police Brigade (N = 127), Gendarmerie (N = 59) and Special Anti-Terorist Unit (N = 53). The measuring of the body composition is realized by using multichannel segmental bioimpedance with InBody 720 apparatus. On average, subjects were 182.7 ± 6.7 cm tall, 88.3 ± 14.2 kg weigh, and had BMI 26.41 ± 3.80 kg/m2. A standardized questionnaire was used to collect data related to eating habits and physical activity habits. The research included twenty (20) variables, eleven (11) basic and nine (9) index variables. Basic variables were: BH - body height, BM - body mass, ICW - intra cellular water, ECW - extra cellular water, Proteins, Minerals, Oss - Osseous, BFM - body fat mass, SMM - skeletal muscle mass, VFA - visceral fat area, BCM - body cell mass. Index variables were: BMI - body mass index, PBF - percent of body fat, PSMM - percent of skeletal muscle mass, FFM - fat free mass, FFMI - fat free mass index, PFI - protein fat index, MMI - muscle mass index, BFI - body fat index, IH - hypokinesia index. The answers to the questionnaire were presented by two variables, as a summary score of eating habits and summary score of physical activity habits. Observing different components of body fat, in relation to the control group, police officers were found to have a higher value of BFM and VFA (basic variables), they also have a higher value of BFI and IH, as well as a lower value of PFI (index variables). In relation to the summary score of eating habits, it is concluded that members of the Police Brigade have the worst eating habits, compared to other groups, while no difference was found between other examined strata, which indicates that eating habits do not differ between control group, as healthy members of the civilian population, and members of the Uniformed Police, Gendarmerie and Special Anti-Terorist Unit. The results show that the surveyed police officers were not predominantly obese due to a significant lack of physical activity, but due to an inadequate diet. Furthermore, the results suggest that physical activity of police officers is a statistically significant criteria, independent of their professional specialization, and directly proportional to the quality of body composition.en
