Životni ciklus grnčarije: upotreba i odbacivanje keramičkih posuda u kasnom neolitu centralnog Balkana

Abstract

Izučavanje ţivotnog ciklusa grnčarije podrazumeva sveobuhvatni pristup keramičkim posudama, kako bi se u celini sagledala celokupna njihova biografija. Ova teza, kroz interpretaciju i evaluaciju rezultata analize ţivotnog ciklusa koja je sprovedena na dvema zbirkama keramike sa lokaliteta Belovode i Pločnik, pronaĎenim u ostacima dva spaljena objekta od pletera i lepa, razmatra istoriju keramičkih posuda u kasnoneolitskim asemblaţima centralnog Balkana, od trenutka ulaska u upotrebu do pronalaska u arheološkom zapisu. Osnovni cilj doktorske disertacije je identifikacija različitih obrazaca i praksi u vezi sa upotrebom, odlaganjem i odbacivanjem grnčarije u okviru kasnoneolitskih keramičkih skupina sa teritorije centralnog Balkana. Preciznije, u radu se ispituje priroda asemblaţa, sličnosti i razlike koje se manifestuju u njihovom sadrţaju, učestalosti morfoloških klasa, prisustvu/odsustvu tragova upotrebe, stepenu fragmentacije, obrascima prostorne distribucije, tafonomskim karakteristikama, kao i stepenu uniformnosti u metričkim parametrima. Istovremeno, razmatrane su mogućnosti u kolikoj meri izučavanje keramičkih asemblaţa moţe da doprinese funkcionalnoj interpretaciji arheološkog konteksta iz kojeg potiču, budući da su biografije graĎevina u tesnoj vezi sa formiranjem keramičkih zbirki. Konačno, učinjen je pokušaj da se utvrdi da li rezultati komparativne analize keramičkih asemblaţa mogu da poboljšaju razumevanje osnovnih procesa koji su se odigrali izmeĎu ljudi i grnčarije u periodu kasnog neolita, pri čemu je posebna paţnja posvećena osnovnim metodološkim problemima i izazovima.

The life-cycle analysis of pottery provides a comprehensive approach to ceramic vessels, in order to gain an insight into their complete biographies. In this thesis, the reconstruction and interpretation of a part of the life-cycle of the Late Neolithic pottery – from the process of use to their final discard will be examined. Pottery discussed here originates from two ceramic assemblages from the central Balkans Late Neolithic sites of Belovode and Pločnik, found in the remains of wattle and daub burnt buildings. The main aim of the thesis is to identify various practices related to use, disposal, and discard in the Late Neolithic ceramic assemblages. More precisely, the thesis addresses the nature of the assemblages, in order to examine and define similarities and differences in their content, the frequency of morphological classes, the presence/absence of use-wear traces, the degree of fragmentation, patterns of spatial distribution, taphonomic characteristics and the degree of uniformity in metric parameters. At the same time, we examine to what extent the analysis of the ceramic assemblages can contribute to assessing the inferences regarding the function of archaeological context, considering that the biographies of buildings are closely related to the formation of ceramic collections. Finally, an attempt was made to determine whether the results of the comparative analysis of ceramic assemblages could yield important insights into the nature of the relationship between people and pottery in the Late Neolithic, with special attention directed toward basic methodological issues and challenges.
