Ediphic habitat characteristics of silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) in northern Montenegro

dc.description.abstractObična jela (Abies alba Mill.), iz familije Pinaceae, podfamilije Abietoideae, jedna je od najvrijednijih četinarskih vrsta drveća u Evropi, u ekološkom i ekonomskom smislu. Obična jela formira relativno veliki broj šumskih zajednica širom Evrope, rijetko gradi čiste sastojine, mješovite zajednice najčešće gradi sa bukvom (Fagus sylvatica), sa smrčom (Picea abies) (bez bukve) ili sa bukvom i smrčom. U ovim šumama često se javljaju i bijeli bor (Pinus sylvestris), gorski javor (Acer pseudoplatanus), javor mleč (Acer platanoides), crni grab (Ostrya carpinifolia) i hrast kitnjak (Quercus petraea), koji su primiješani u ovim šumama. U ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji su prikazane osnovne zakonitosti rasprostranjenja, ekologije i međusobnih odnosa šumskih zajednica obične jele (Abies alba) na sjeveru Crne Gore. Na osnovu pedoloških istraživanja u gazdinskoj jedinici „Bjelasica“ su opisani sljedeći tipovi zemljišta: smeđe kiselo zemljište – distrični kambisol na škriljcima, smeđe kiselo zemljište – distrični kambisol na pješčarima, smeđa kisela zemljišta - na krečnjacima i dolomitima. U okviru fitocenoloških istraživanja ukupno je determinisano 160 biljnih vrsta na 158 oglednih površina. Najrasprostranjenija vrsta je bila bukva (Fagus sylvatica) na 91% oglednih površina. Česte drvenaste vrste su: gorski javor (Acer pseudoplatanus) sa 56%, obična jela (Abies alba) sa 52% i smrča (Picea abies) sa 26%. Vegetacione grupe su razdvojene Isopam klasifikacijom, korišćenjem prve dvije ordinacione ose. Prva osa je definisana gradijentom, od prilično malo zastupljenih vrsta kao što su crni bor (Pinus nigra), crni grab (Ostrya carpinifolia), srčenjak (Potentilla erecta), petoprsta bijela (Potentilla alba), jasika (Populus tremula) i pasija ruža (Rosa canina) do konkuretnih vrsta u sloju drveća, kao što je bukva (Fagus sylvatica). Floristički gradijent druge ose je definisan prisustvom obične jele (Abies alba), jetrenke (Anemone hepatica), Blagajevog likovca (Daphne blagayana) na većim vrijednostima bršljena (Hedera helix) i mahovina (Polytrichum formosum) na nižim vrijednostima. dc.description.abstractSilver fir (Abies alba Mill.), in the Pinaceae family, is one of the most valuable conifer trees in Europe for ecological and economic reasons. Silver fir forms a relatively large number of forest associations across Europe, either individually or with other conifers (Picea abies, locally Pinus sylvestris) or mixed with beech (Fagus sylvatica), maples (Acer pseudoplatanus, Acer platanoides), hop hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia) and sessile oak (Quercus petraea). The characterize the subject of our research as a whole it is necessary to consider the basic regularities of distribution, ecology and interrelationships of all biogeocenoses of Silver fir forests. In doing this, we have done research on three levels. First, in the “Bjelasica” management unit (Mt Bjelasica) as an example that represents the usual habitats of Silver fir in Montenegro, we have done phytocoenological research. The results of phytocenological research provide a basis for setting up a large-scale framwork - regional communities of Silver fir forests and basic forest types within them. Second, based on National Forests Inventory of Montenegro (NFI), we tried to assess Silver fir niche in Montenegro. In the end we compared Silver fir niches of Montenegro and Germany. Data on vegetation composition and physical factors were collected at 158 sites from June to September in 2014 and 2015. The plot size was 100 m2, represented homogeneous site conditions and had a shape either of 10 m × 10 m or 20 m × 5 m, depending on relief and forest structure. The structure of the vegetation was described by three layers: Field layer (height < 1 m), shrub layer (height 1–5 m) and tree layer (height > 5 m). For each layer, the occurring vascular plant species were listed and their cover abundance in the respective layer was estimated using the modified Braun-Blanquet-scale. At each site the following physical parameters were surveyed: location (latitude/longitude), land-form (terrain form, slope, aspect, curvature, elevation, terrain position), land use and soil.
