Metabolic syndrome is a common name for the group of risk factors, if they occur together, increasing the risk for early atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes Hypertensive changes of arteries, and changes due to a cardiometabolic disorders including aging, primarily affect the muscle of the small arteries and arterioles. The relationship between the existence of metabolic syndrome and progression of "hardness" of the arteries in the aorta and major arteries is still not fully understood. Aim of invstagation The aim of the research is to study the influence of the individual components of the metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors, on the mechanics of the artery and the vascular health of subjects of different age groups with the metabolic syndrome Methodology The study was designed as a prospective cohort study that included 103 subjects of both sexes and aged 40 to 95 years of age. The research was conducted at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases Dedinje in Belgrade, in the period from 2016 to 2018. The study sutisfied all ethical principles and carried out only with the written, voluntary and informed consent of respondenrs to participate in the study. The main criteria for inclusion in the study were: the voluntary written consent of the patient, presence of three out of five following criteria of the metabolic syndrome: abdominal obesity (> 102 cm in men and> 88 cm for women), triglycerides ≥ 1.7 mmol / l, or therapy for HLP, HDL-cholesterol <1.04 mmol / l for men and <1.3 mmol / l for women, or for the therapy HLP, systolic BP ≥ 130 mmHg or diastolic BP ≥ 85 mm Hg, or fasting glucose ≥ 5.5 mmol / l or anti-diabetic therapy. The control group was patients without metabolic syndrome. In terms of age, patients were categorized into appropriate subgroups...en
