The subject of the dissertation includes characterization of the several commercial thermoelectric cooling/heating modules with the aim to select preferable ones for use as generators in energy harvesting wireless sensor nodes. Modules of different dimensions, structural and technological parameters were considered. The analysis is based on the results of numerical simulations using the ANSYS 18.0 Workbench software under three thermally different operating conditions (as standalone devices, with a heatsink and inside the wireless sensor node), and using a steady-state SPICE compatible electrical model of the wireless sensor node. The voltage and power transferred to the load at various temperature differences are discussed. Results obtained by the simulation are compared with an analytical approximation, thermovision imaging and electrical measurements. The influence of ambient temperature and air velocity on the thermoelectric characteristics of the wireless sensor node was also exam...ined.
