Abstract

Given the importance of quality of life in the context of increasing hypokinesia and obesity among children and youth, a survey was conducted in order to examine the health related quality of life and its relation to body structure and motor status of early school age children. The study included 214 children (113 boys, 101 girls) aged 7-8 years from six elementary schools from Subotica.Relations between health-related quality of life such as dependent and independent variables were examined: physical growth and development, motor status (motor abilities, motorical skills) and body composition. The results show that the parameters of the body structure and motor status are more significantly correlated to health related quality of life in boys than in girls of early school age. Boys who achieved better on tests of motor development and have more favorable physical structure, are more physically active, full of energy, feel better, spend more time with friends and enjoy the support of the...ir peers.
