Since the 1920s to the present Radio is continuously dominant and influential mass media. The key element that forms radio discourse is the music, i.e music concep. As a medium that best corresponds with the auditorium, and influences the formation of tastes and criteria, the radio music concept represents the crucial component of the social role of this mass media. The radio auditorium, more specifically its position in terms of the recipient, but also as the message sender in the communication scheme the sender → message → the recipient, continuously intrigues the mass media experts and researchers of the relation the mass media/radio ↔ audience. From a historical retrospective to a contemporary position, whether it's a passive, active, interactive or an overactive auditorium, over time, the communication circle radio discourse ↔ the auditorium has been transformed from oneway into a multi-directional. Namely, through the development of mass media, and ultimately digital literacy, the radio auditorium is capable of decoding messages independently, and its power of influence on radio program and music content is gradually increasing. However, the development of commercial mass media and market imperatives gradually turn the wheel of history backwards and return the radio auditorium to a subordinate position, especially when it comes to music content and subliminal messages that are directed through music editing. In modern times, the predominance of information and communication technologies influences the formation of a New Mass Media Order in which the Global Network (as a synonym for the Internet) contex is created and functioning. The key word that relates to the position of radio and radio auditorium, as well as music concept as the most important radio tool, in the new Internet sphere is - convergence. Not only traditional radio in internet sphere became upgraded version of the existing mass media, but it has actually became also new (audio-visual) mass-media form. The transformation of the media, inevitably transforms its audience. With the possibility of editing and placing music content of its own choice, the auditorium is a music editor. Recognized as inactive and passive, then media literate and analogously – active, and interactive with the development of Internet and new technologies, the auditorium in the era of hyper-information is in the phase that implies its „overactive” action. Namely, it is about an audience that not only selects, modifies, complements and distributes content, but automatically creates it with an incredible amount of information and tools. This study included a significant period of over ninety years in order to clearly see the ways of transformations of radio as mass media, as well as a radio auditorium, and through the prism of the most important element of communication – music, that is, the music concept of radio discourse. An adequate research framework consists of the Radio Belgrade programs as a public broadcaster, and domestic commercial format radio stations, with occasional reference to the global counterparts.en
