Printed Circuit Boards - PCBs).
The aim of this doctoral dissertation is investigation of physical and chemical properties of two groups of composite materials. One group of composites is based on unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) resin produced from the product of the catalytic depolymerization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in the excess of 1,2-propylene glycol (PG) with the reinforcement of untreated NMF micro-particles obtained by mechanical pre-treatment of waste printed circuit boards - PCBs. Three different fractions of NMF micro-particles were selected: <36 μm - NMF1, 36-63 μm - NMF2 and 63-100 μm - NMF3. The influence of the particle size and loading of the NMF fractions on the mechanical, dynamic-mechanical and thermal properties of the obtained composites was studied. Synthesized UPR resin is qualitative characterized by NMR and FTIR analysis, while NMF micro-particles were examined by FTIR, SEM and Image analysis to obtain their morphological characteristics. The best tensile strength was achieved by incorporating the NMF1 fraction compared to pure UPR resin, while the micro Vikers hardness was improved in all analyzed samples. The results of DMA showed no significant influence of the untreated NMF micro-particles addition into NZPE matrix on the dynamic-mechanical properties of the corresponding composites. An addition of more than 1.0 wt.% of the NMF1 fraction improves the thermal stability of the composite, while the flame resistance is low for all of the analyzed composites. To improve the flammability characteristics of the composites, the previously synthesized aluminium trihydoxide (ATH) and triallyl phosphate (TAP) were added to the composite formulations. By the addition of 20 and 10 wt.% TAP and ATH, respectively, a corresponding composite, classified in the V-2 category according to the UL-94 standard method, was obtained...en
