Proza Ernesta Hemingveja iz ugla teorija roda i razlike

Abstract

Temeljeći se na pretpostavci da teorije roda i razlike danas predstavljaju nezaobilaznu kritičku perspektivu u tumačenju književnih dela, ova doktorska disertacija je u najširem smislu posvećena istraživanju predstava roda u proznom stvaralaštvu Ernesta Hemingveja. Imajući u vidu da se kritička ispitivanja Hemingvejevog opusa neprestano umnožavaju od objavljivanja piščevih prvih pesama i kratkih priča 1923. godine, ona u drugoj deceniji XXI veka dostižu nepregledne razmere. Ipak, podrobno ispitivanje obimne kritičke literature pokazalo je da istraživanje društvenih konstrukcija muškosti i ženskosti u delu Ernesta Hemingveja do sada nije bilo predmet celovitog proučavanja na srpskom govornom području. Pošto tzv. tradicionalna kritika s jedne i revizionistička kritika Hemingvejeve proze s druge strane rod oprečno tumače, dolazimo do opšteg zaključka da delo Ernesta Hemingveja valja uvek iznova istraživati, kao i da kritička osvetljavanja u ovom slučaju pokazuju svoju podložnost promeni i političkom sudu koji zavisi od širih društvenih i kulturnih konfiguracija. Rad će pokazati da se kritički sud o ulozi koju rod ima u Hemingvejevom delu umnogome promenio tokom perioda od gotovo jednog veka, zbog čega je važno sistematizovati postojeće interpretativne pozicije i uvide pre nego ih dopunimo dodatnima. Očekujemo da će doprinos ovog rada biti podrobna analiza celokupne Hemingvejeve proze iz ugla feminističke kritike, gender studija, istraživanja maskuliniteta i queer studija, čime bi se obogatila do sada objavljena kritička literatura o proznom delu Ernesta Hemingveja na polju srpske anglistike i proširilo znanje o ulozi i značaju roda za razumevanje stvaralaštva Ernesta Hemingveja u okvirima istorije američke književnosti. Based on an assumption that Theories of Difference and Gender Studies are an indispensable critical perspective in the interpretation of literary works today, this doctoral dissertation is largely dedicated to the research into the representations of gender in the fiction of Ernest Hemingway. Taking into account that critical views of Hemingway’s works have been incessantly multipled from the very moment of their first publication in 1923, they reach immense proportions in the second decade of XXI century. Nevertheless, the thorough overview of massive criticism in question has shown that the investigation of societal constructions of masculinity and femininity in the works of Ernest Hemingway has not been exhaustive in Serbian criticism. Since both traditional and revisionist criticism of Hemingway’s fiction have been interpreting the topic of gender in opposing ways, we come to an overall conclusion that Ernest Hemingway’s art is in need of being scrutinized afresh, while criticism at large, as in this instance, forever demonstrates its susceptibility to change and political taste that depends on larger social and cultural configurations. Due to the fact that the critical perception of the role of gender in Hemingway’s works has considerably transformed during the period of almost an entire century, it is essential that the current critical insights be systematically examined before any new ones are added.
