In this study the initial prototype of decision support system is presented, which is in permanent development, with a description of the tasks and objectives to be met. Its components and importance of each are shown. The goal is the transformation of the prototype into a integral system to deal with data base system, the knowledge baze, with the numerical simulation of the system and display the results using GIS technology, with the aim of testing the effects of planned actions prior to implementation of the system. Perfomance analysis of water supply systems in Serbia have shown the applicability of the IWA methodology and its adoption is recommended, and systematic work to modernize water supply systems and the introduction of active management. The performances of Serbian water supply systems are unsatisfactory, this problem is very difficult and should be one of the priority tasks of national development programs. There is a case study of water supply in Pirot perfomances; results presented have proven IWA methodology technical indicators impartiality. Well calibrated hydraulic model has been used to simulate the effect of system zoning and the introduction of pressure control, proving that significant cost savings can be achieved without costly reconstruction. Achieved financial savings can be further used to continue to invest in the development of all components of the program for the integrated management system, billing, losses and consumption. Results and experience presented can be a valuable basis and support for water supply systems in Serbia, especially smaller ones, which in addition to small budgets often have problems with excessive loss of water, lack of compentent staff and understanding of issues outside the company.en
