Елегијско песништво као monumetum: питање односа римских елегичара према свом делу

Abstract

Рад испитује однос римских елегичара према свом делу са становишта комплексне идеје, обележене појмом monumentum, која је била утицајна у античкој римској култури, а нарочито у време цветања жанра римске љубавне елегије. Оквир истраживања одредило је широко семантичко поље појма monumentum и кључни квалитети којима се дефинише идеја споменика у римској култури. Истраживање отпочиње издвајањем појмова меморијализације у корпусима римске елегије и њиховом контекстуалном анализом са очекивањем да се открију кључни аспекти идеје monumentum у одабраном корпусу текстова (Тибул, Проперције, Овидије) и да се предложе нова читања значаја који они имају за поетику римске елегије код сваког аутора понаособ. Кренули смо од претпоставке да контекст бележења термина меморијализације може да укаже на односе песничког дела према књижевној традицији, актуелним уметничким праксама, друштвено-политичким актуелностима и њиховим утицајима на само дело и његовог аутора. Почетна језичка анализа указаће на текстуалне конструкте као носиоце наведених односа, али и на специфичну аналогију песме и ликовних артефаката у процесу оспомењавања. С тим у вези методологија истраживања почиваће на интердисциплинарном приступу и анализираће циљана места корпуса из неколико перспектива – сагледавањем филозофских основа елегијске поетике које указују на ауторов однос према идеји смрти/нестајања и потенцијал текстуалних конструката да пониште ту идеју; испитивањем прогласа песме за споменик и значаја књижевних дијалога у формирању оваквих прогласа; уочавањем аналогије у начину комуникације елегијске песме и јавних и ликовних споменика. Повлачење књижевних паралела у третману песме за монумент између римских елегичара и књижевних стваралаца других жанрова, донеће нам вредна запажања о разликама у ауторском третману песничког дела, док ћемо повлачењем паралела између књижевног текста и ликовних и историјских дела уочити могуће начине на које римски елегичари траже друштвено одобрење и легитимитет за своје стваралаштво.

This paper deals with the Roman elegists’ attitude towards their own work from the standpoint of a complex idea marked by the term monumentum, which was very influential in ancient Roman culture, especially during the zenith of the Roman love elegy. The research framework is determined by the wide semantic field of the term monumentum and the key qualities which define the idea of a monument in Roman culture. The research commences with extracting the terms of memorialization from the Roman elegy corpus and conducting their contextual analysis in order to reveal the key aspects of the monumentum idea in the Roman love elegy (Tibullus, Propertius, Ovid) as well as to propose new readings of its importance for the poetics of Roman elegy in each individual author. We started from the assumption that the context in which the memorialization terms are found can also indicate the relation between the poetic work on one side and the literary tradition, current artistic practices, socio-political events and their influence on the literary authors on the other. The initial linguistic analysis will point to the textual constructs as carriers of the aforementioned relations. It will also reveal the specific analogy between the elegiac song and visual artefacts in terms of commemoration. Therefore, the research methodology will be based on an interdisciplinary approach and will analyze the selected parts of the textual corpus from several perspectives: questioning the philosophical foundations of the elegiac poetics which indicates the author’s attitude towards the idea of death/disappearance and the potential of textual constructs to overturn that idea; examining the proclamation of the poem as a monument and the importance of literary dialogue for forming such proclamations; observing the analogy of the manner in which elegy communicates and in which public and art monuments do so. Making literary parallels – according to treatment of the poem for a monument – between Roman elegists and authors of other literary genres, will bring valuable observations about the differences in the authors’ treatment of their poetic work; on the other hand, making parallels between a literary text and both artistic and historical works, will help us to observe possible ways in which Roman elegists seek social approval and legitimacy for their creativity.
