In this dissertation and the research that is carried within it, we are starting from the current moment in the world of media and journalism, created by numerous impacts which are coming from a complex set of different challenges, leading to the „media crisis“ context, and even the disappearance of some of them. By analyzing this, certainly global context, we are also examining the existence and nature of the relationship between two dimensions of media work: editing and business management, which is seen as а crucial for their functioning and survival, including all individual factors that influence their relationship and its consequences. Starting from а concrete research question, which is directed towards examining whether there is a relationship between the editing and media business results, and, if any, in what it refers to and what are its implications, the objective is to examine what is possible and can be undertaken in terms of the media functioning (hence, the choice and ways of approach to the content editing and publishing), so that it may have an impact on their business, and vice versa – we are looking to business results that influence changes in the editorial approaches and the organization of the media newsroom. According to the current situation, especially pessimistic for the print, primarily newspapers, we are analyzing directly this type of media, and as a sample using media in Serbia (specifically, the daily "Danas", "Politics" and "Kurir"), and the media landscape justifiably seen as a representative for the interpretation of these challenges. The aim of this work is motivated by the ambition to gain insight into current practices of newspaper, that we want to describe and explain from the scientific point of view, but also to check the argumentation of some global theoretical assumptions and editorial concepts, considering them from the perspective of their possible links with business results of the media. For this reason, we are trying to determine what influences the formation of these concepts and what are their achievements. Other issues that we are, therefore, trying to provide answers to, are focused to a broader analysis of question – whether the media in Serbia are ready for the current challenges, their awareness and attitude about those challenges, compared to the global practice? 8 In this way, we are recognizing local specificities, and therefore the current trends in this area – indirectly, we are also testing results of some the new models of media produces (and its reason for success)? At the same time, we are examining the assessment of certain global assumptions and their scope of practice, as well as the local specifics. The intention of this work is to explain that the challenges that media face today (external factors) and media responses to them (internal factors), are functioning in a kind of dynamic form of mechanism, and that is why we have a need to explain it adequately - as a complex and interdependent process, whose relationship and outcomes are influenced by many factors. By focusing on the achievements of the internal (media) factors, which havе two aspects (professionalism among media employees: management – organizational, and the journalistic – working), the objective is to explore the possibilities to formulate an optimal model of media functioning, which would provide them with stability, particularly for those whose survival is now threatened the most (print, primarily newspapers). The goal is also to describe and explain the existence and nature of current trends in terms of changes in the business philosophy of newspapers, reflected in new approaches of content creating and publishing. Indirectly, we also want to direct more attention to the impact of these, often underated, topic  importance of management policies and editorial approach in the media, and therefore the importance of standardizing the competence of the media management in general. The intention is also to clarify two, in my judgment, logic-errors, that can be seen in the current media theory and practice. The first represents the management consent on the impact of the so-called external factors (influence of actors outside of the media) for the sake of temporary financial benefits. The second, however, is simplistic and unfounded attempt of blaming journalists for bad media-business results, because the reality, on the other hand, is proving enough to suggest that it certainly can not be interpreted in that way. Basically, two of these misconceptions, those that this dissertation is sufficiently demonstrated as such, actually lies in often oversight of the fact that a key lever is in a hand of the most responsible media actors (management) and their attitude towards the media work  so we can assume that there also lies the answer to the current challenges. Therefore, this dissertation is seeking to detect current changes in the production of media content (organized by the editorial board and policy) and their impact on media business, and 9 vice versa. All of this, with the ambition to examine how are the editorial policies motivated by the desire to produce quality content, and also, as far, with intention of making a bigger profit on the other side, as well to see what is the relationship and the consequences of these orientations. With such goal, research is using a kind of an "optic tool" created by several editorial concepts, founded as a response to the current challenges, observed by media theorist Joseph Tjurou, described in detail in this paper...en
